Company aims to open 250 unmanned convenience outlets in Malaysia by year-end

The first Irispay E-Concept Store is located in SS15, Subang Jaya.

MALAYSIA recently welcomed the country’s first large-scale chain of unmanned convenience stores in Malaysia, the Irispay E-Concept Store.

The store, which was introduced by Iris World International Group Bhd (IWI), helps promote cashless transactions in the retail industry as well as takes Malaysia one step further towards the eventual adoption of mobile payments.

To that end, IWI created the Irispay App, which enables users to perform cashless transactions at the unmanned store.

“The core competitiveness if Irispay E-Concept Store is saving labour costs for retailers,”said chief executive officer Paul Chua in statement.

“We will use the data collected by the app to help push our profit margins, going forward.”

Chua saidthat the group planned to launch 250 more E-concept stores by the end of the year, as well as targeting to manage 2,000 similar stores in Southeast Asia by 2020.

The opening of the first Irispay E-Concept Store in SS15 here was officiated by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong, on January 2018.
